Or not. Yes, not later would be great.
So.. we said sayonara to our hugantic (that’s a little huge and a little gigantic, duh) red sectional. Did I mention that it was red. Never again. Ya know, we try our best around here not to make costly mistakes but sometimes you just have to learn by personal experience. But seriously, please take my advice on this one. If you ever plan to stray from your original color scheme that currently incorporates a red sofa, save yourself the time and money and just don’t go there. Or any strikingly bold color for that matter. I am a true believer in using color with accessories anyway. I don’t know what we were thinking. A little too brave that afternoon apparently.
On the bright side, the sofa was showing some signs of wear after a few years and we would have been looking in the near future regardless… or so I tell myself… and the hubs. And the best part? We slapped her right up on craigslist and sold her three days later for 800 buckaroos. What’s the best part about that? Well, with $800 to throw down on a new sofa we only had to dish out $48 for a new one. Yea, you heard me. 48. And I’m totally psyched to share our new babes with you guys. That is, when we actually get it. Now for a little bit of a downer.
We had our eyes set on this puppy.

Clean lines, simple, modern, with a bit of bulk and extra sturdiness for future bambinos. And the color.. to die for. Dark gray, perfect for a combination of spills and pet hair. Love. Not to mention easily removable covers for quick clean-up. Music to my ears. Oh, and the price. Can I get an $848? Yea, we’ll take that. Ikea, how we love you. But wait, wasn’t there a downer? So, we take a little trip to our local Ikea, not in stock. Ok, when can we get it? We don’t place furniture orders unless we have the furniture in stock. Ok, when will you have it. We don’t have any record of future deliveries. Can you notify us when you get it? No. So… we just have to keep checking back day after day? Yes.
Lets not go into how completely frustrating that conversation was. Did I say I loved you Ikea? Correction. After calling Ikea’s help line I later learned that literally each and every store was out of the dark gray covers. So, no help there. We finally got someone to spill the beans. For some unknown reason he had the sneaking suspicion that more covers would be delivered in late March. Hmmm. I will be stalking Ikea’s website until then checking for updates. You’re welcome to join me
Until then… we purchased the frame and a temporary cover in the least expensive and neutral color we could get our hands on. It looks a little like this.

One positive, we are one step closer to our finished living room remodel. No real pictures of the sofa because I’m not that pumped. Plain and simple. But hey, temporarily it’s neutral color is perfect.. especially for a house going up on the market.
Wait, what???
Opps
