DIY Play Kitchen

We celebrated Zoey’s first birthday nearly seven months ago. It’s so difficult to imagine that she’s now closer to two than one. My sweet little baby is growing into such a smart young girl that amazes me more day after day. We wanted her gift from us to be something really special. Something that she would hold onto and continue playing with for years. And something that would somewhat represent this significant transition in life from baby to toddler. Since her birthday fell in the middle of my blogging break, I’m just now getting around to sharing the details.

If the title didn’t already give it away, we built her a play kitchen. We had seen a few floating around the blogosphere and the idea of a gift that was built by hand from Mom and Dad really hit home. We adored this set of plans from The Crafting Chicks (here’s Ana White’s detailed plans if you’re looking to build) and followed them to a tee. We switched up the fabric choices and used slightly different handles but everything else is just about right on. We are head over heels in love with how it turned out.. even seven months later ;)

If you’re interested in details like the doggy bowl turned sink, wooden stove-top burners, and mini faucet head on over to The Crafting Chicks for more info :)

      Hi Chloe!
I can’t seem to find any specific names of the fabrics, since they were purchased nearly a year ago. But I did buy them from Hobby Lobby’s fabric department so they might be more help. They may even still have them in stock, who knows! I’ll look around next time I’m in the store :)

      Hi Laura!

I’m thinking we picked them up at Hobby Lobby. They were meant to hold candles if I remember correctly and came in several different sizes. Hope that helps!
