We celebrated Zoey’s first birthday nearly seven months ago. It’s so difficult to imagine that she’s now closer to two than one. My sweet little baby is growing into such a smart young girl that amazes me more day after day. We wanted her gift from us to be something really special. Something that she would hold onto and continue playing with for years. And something that would somewhat represent this significant transition in life from baby to toddler. Since her birthday fell in the middle of my blogging break, I’m just now getting around to sharing the details.
If the title didn’t already give it away, we built her a play kitchen. We had seen a few floating around the blogosphere and the idea of a gift that was built by hand from Mom and Dad really hit home. We adored this set of plans from The Crafting Chicks (here’s Ana White’s detailed plans if you’re looking to build) and followed them to a tee. We switched up the fabric choices and used slightly different handles but everything else is just about right on. We are head over heels in love with how it turned out.. even seven months later 😉
