Mood Board: Charlotte’s Living Space

Last week I shared Charlotte’s kitchen mood board, and this week we’re back with the design for her adjacent living room.

Here’s what I came up with!

Custom Mood Boards | Cape27Blog.com

Wall color: Smoke Embers by Benjamin Moore – the same color used throughout her kitchen and dining space.

- Moroccan Wall Stencil: I chose this beautiful Moroccan inspired stencil for the back of Charlotte’s two built-in bookcases. This will make such a statement in the room!

- Feather Print – Charlotte mentioned liking a few feather prints from a previous client’s design, so I threw this one in for you fun. Perfect for her color palette.

- Love Life Print – I’d love to see a few small prints like this one framed and displayed in her bookcases. I suggested sticking with fairly simple art to avoid any chaos with the stencil graphic.

- Coral Drum Pendant – Charlotte was considering swapping out a ceiling fan for a light fixture. This coral drum shade pendant is super cute for an extra punch of color and pattern.

- Navy Ikat Window Panels – These are the same window treatments used in the dining space (more on that next week), that we’d continue on into the living space.

- Navy Swoop-Back Chair – Charlotte’s existing lounge chairs were a bit large for the space. Swapping them out for these low-profile armed replacements will really help open up the space.

- Coral Circles Pillow

- Smoke Table Lamp – A sleek glass table lamp to top the side table, with a drum shade to compliment the ceiling fixture.

- Chevron Frame – So fun and a great punch of color for the opposite side of the room.

- White Pedestal Side Table – Sadly, this table is no longer available. However, this less expensive version is. A few coats of glossy white paint and we’re back in the game.

- Gray Diamond Rug – A neutral base to help ground all of the colorful accents.

- Ribbed Knit Pillow

- Hand-Blocked Rhombus Pillow

- Striped Pillow

- Green Serving Tray – Top the upholstered ottoman with this bright green tray for drinks, flowers, a book, whatever you may need.

- Tufted Storage Ottoman – Love all the storage that comes along with this ottoman. The living room is also tight on space, so the round shape helps to allow enough clearance around the sofa and chairs.

- Be Strong Print

- Create Yourself Print

- Rustic Frames – I suggested that Charlotte do a collage art wall, mixing frames like these, along with a few simple white ones for a collected feel. They’d also be great in her built-in bookcases!

- Solid Navy Pillow

- Stripe Pillow

- Coral Dot Pillow

- Navy Dot Pillow

- Chemist Flower Vase – Perfect for styling the bookcases. Possibly a DIY project?

- Coral Vase

- Blue World Map – I’d love to see this in the collage wall, surrounded by a grouping of smaller prints.

- Feather Print

- Elephant Watercolor

- Ceramic Woven Vases

– White Rhino – I’m in love with this Etsy shop. Another great option for the bookcases. He’s small enough to try layering on top of a stack of books!

- Green Upholstered Bench– I suggested placing this beneath the collage wall. Toss a few throw pillows on the back for extra comfort!

Psst – Several of you have been asking about before and after photos. I must look out for the client’s privacy at all costs, however, if they are willing to share you’ll be the next to know. Also, keep in mind, redesigns can take time. So, even if they’re open to sharing the progress it’s unlikely that it’ll be a weekend turnaround :)
